Some countries demonstrate greater or lesser acceptance of women as leaders and/or ministers, but the biggest barrier against women in the Church crosses all territorial boundaries. It is the culture of clericalism.

In effect, almost all secular priests were trained into clericalism last century. I am not sure whether that is less so in this century. They were told by their superiors that they were special, had their hands kissed at ordination, and were told that celibacy put them on a higher level. That is why it is so difficult for many to move away from that culture as it is endemic when they meet as a group.
