I’m a Catholic woman who was allowed to preach at Mass—until it was banned

The Vatican has rejected a request from the German bishops for special permission to allow lay men and women to preach homilies during Mass. Religion News Service offers some interesting comments on the Vatican ruling in light of Pope Leo’s ministry during his time in Peru and since. It’s interesting that the Church was able to evolve doctrine and practice for the first few centuries after the death of Jesus but seems now to be locked and unable to adapt as the world changes around it.
